Red Flags in a Roofing Company

If you need a new roof or repairs to the one you have, you’ll want to find a roofing company you can trust. The best way to do that is to do some research and get a few quotes. Also, make sure you look for any red flags, so you can avoid companies that might not be trustworthy or that may not do a good job on your roof. Here are some of the biggest red flags in a roofing compnay to look out for, before you hire a roofing company!

Red Flag #1: Their Bid is Much Lower Than Anyone Else

Getting something for a great price is nice, but only if you’re still getting plenty of quality and value. The cheapest bid isn’t always the best, and if the bid is a lot lower than others, there is probably a reason for that. If you select the lowest bid, it should be close to other estimates.

Red Flag #2: They Don’t Have References or a Portfolio

Every company has to start somewhere. But you want to choose a company that has references from past clients, or a portfolio they can show you. If they don’t have those things, it’s very hard to determine whether they do good work or people have been happy with their work.

Red Flag #3: There’s Too Much Pressure to Sign a Contract

You should have time to think about the bid they give you. If they want you to sign right away, the day they give you the estimate, that can be a big red flag. You should never feel pressured to choose a particular company, or to sign with them right away. Don’t get bullied into signing a contract with a company you’re not sure about.

Red Flag #4: They Are Asking for Money Upfront

There shouldn’t be any money upfront for labor. Some companies do ask for money for materials after you sign a contract with them, but that should be a percentage and not anything close to the entire amount. If they want all the money right away, with or without a contract, that’s definitely a red flag.
